Troubleshooting Time by Fifty Percent

Aprisma Management Technologies, the leader in scalable, multivendor E-business

infrastructure management, and Wake Forest University, a private, liberal arts university, today announced that Wake Forest has selected Aprisma's SPECTRUM Management Suite to manage the campus's entire networked infrastructure.

Wake Forest's vast campus is home to over 6,000 faculty and students, each with their own portable laptop, providing critical access to business and educational applications as well as Internet services. Wake Forest's goal is to have a highly reliable, transparent network that their many users can count on. "We want our students and faculty to feel that the network they depend on is as reliable as flipping on a light switch," said Phil May, network operations center manager for Wake Forest University. "SPECTRUM is critical in helping us to achieve our high standards for network performance. Since implementing the solution, we've seen dramatic improvements in our ability to minimize disruptions to the IT services we offer. In fact, through SPECTRUM's proactive management, we've reduced our troubleshooting time by fifty percent."

"SPECTRUM helps Wake Forest to identify and address network issues before they effect the university's IT services," commented May. "The solution allows us to support an increasing number of users, applications and technologies with minimal staff."

To further enhance their ability to serve students and faculty alike, Wake Forest has also chosen to implement Opticom's Executive Information System (EIS). The solution works directly with SPECTRUM to turn very granular information into service level reports. EIS allows Wake Forest's IT department to give their customer's web access to these reports to keep them informed about the quality of service they are receiving.

"The next steps for our network include bandwidth-intensive implementations like video over IP, and managing our telephony infrastructure," said May. "SPECTRUM will be at the core of our efforts to support these projects and our ability to manage and maximize service levels."
