Shaw's High-Speed Internet Growth Accelerates -- 500,000 Customers Now On-line.

In the May 25th edition of DSLreports.com, Shaw@Home was ranked number one in the world in terms of performance among 65 high-speed Internet service providers. The industry rated Shaw@Home as a four and a half stars out of five in terms of overall customer satisfaction. The report also listed other Canadian cable and telco providers of high-speed Internet.

Shaw has identified, Nancy Barrett of Vancouver, B.C. as the 500,000th customer to sign up to Shaw@Home. "I have heard such amazing stories from friends about how incredible Shaw@Home is compared to other high-speed Internet services, I could hardly wait to get it,' Barrett said. "They said, don't bother going online unless you have Shaw@Home to get you where you need to go." To recognize Nancy Barrett as the 500,000th customer, Shaw has awarded her a free year of service. Shaw will be hosting customer appreciation events across Western Canada all summer as a thank you to customers.

On a per capita basis, Shaw@Home is the most popular high-speed Internet service in North America. Within Shaw's own base of 2.2 million cable customers, almost one in four also subscribe to Shaw@Home. More than 70 per cent of our customers hear about Shaw@Home as a positive referral from another customer. -- $56 million for network upgrades and expansion, including six regional
Internet Data Centres (Calgary, Victoria, Vancouver, Kelowna, Edmonton and

-- $274 million to develop its own Internet backbone and fiber optic network
between major cities.
