Where did the last visitor to your website come from? How did they get there? How long did they stay? Had they been to your website before? What pages did they visit?
If you don't know the answers to these questions, then it's high time you installed an analytics program on your website.
On the internet, the world is your customer. To narrow that down, you need to know details about your visitors and what makes them come to your site.
A good analytics program will help you determine that information and help you refine your website to make it even more enticing for them to return and purchase what you have to sell.
There are plenty of analytics programs on the market. But if you want a free program that provides plenty of good information for you to act on, you should try Google Analytics. Give it a try and see how it works out for you.
Another great program that is relatively new to the marketplace (and currently free) is Woopra. What's really cool about Woopra is that it provides you "real time" information unlike Google Analytics which shows you history. It might help you a bit more if you have an online store and want to watch as your customers browse your site. It can't hurt to apply for an account and give it a test drive. The worst that can happen is you'll learn a bit more about your customers. And that's never a bad thing.
Do you use an analytics program? Which one? Why? Please leave a comment.
