Beyond Dictionary.com, which is a great sight, what do you do when you're away from your home or office and just have to know the definition of a particular word?
Maybe you're at the beach curled up with a great read and are simply curious as to that unknown adjective. Perhaps you're on your way to a presentation off-site and it occurs to you that that brilliant word you chose half-way through may not mean what you think it does.
What do you do?
Again, if your phone has internet capabilities, you're set. However, any phone that has texting capabilities can get a word definition, thanks to the ubiquitous wonder that is Google.
You may not know this, but you can text Google on your phone and receive all kinds of information. Simply type in G-O-O-G-L-E where you would normally enter the phone number for sending text messages. This number ends up being 466-453. I know it's only six digits. It doesn't matter. It will work, I swear.
Now for the body of your text, enter "define" and the word in question. Hit send. As quick as you can say "I don't buy it," Google will text you back the definition. Now, for complex words with more than one definition, you will only receive the first one (it's like hitting "I feel lucky" on your browser) but for definitions this is usually enough.
Forgot the address to that new restaurant at home? Text Google the name and your city, and you will receive the address and phone number. Sports fans? Text Google your favorite sports team, and you will receive the score from their last game. Need to know the weather for the weekend? Just text "weather" and your city or zip code and you'll get it before you hit the door.
