The Internet is a wonderful resource for research. Without belaboring the obvious, I know people (myself included) who have written books using nothing but data pulled off the Net. Our research strategy was simple--use Google (google.com) to find any URL that dealt with the book's subject, bookmark it, peruse headlines of articles listed on the site, and download and read those that were relevant.
