Hughes Electronics Corp. announced its new service, DirecTV Broadband Powered by DirecPC, will be able to offer DirecTV and two-way satellite broadband Internet access via one satellite dish. Targeted availability for this service is 1Q 2001, and pricing will be announced upon its launch. Hughes Network Systems' DirecPC Satellite Return system is the hardware necessary for this service. Its broadband connection uploads data at speeds up to 128 kbps and downloads at speeds up to 400
