CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 28, 2000

Shaw Communications Inc. (TSE:SJR.B.) (CDNX:SJR.A) (NYSE:SJR) announced today that it has agreed, subject to receipt of required regulatory approvals, to acquire Reliance Distributors which operates the cable

television systems serving approximately 3,700 subscribers in Squamish (and area), B.C. Squamish is located approximately 60 kilometres north of Vancouver.

In commenting on the transaction, Jim Shaw, President and Chief Executive Officer of Shaw, said, "We are very pleased to acquire the Squamish, B.C. system which will complement our existing operations in British Columbia and provide synergistic opportunities with the recently announced acquisition (subject to regulatory approvals) of the Vancouver and area cable systems form Rogers."
