Oceanic Time Warner Cable Selects Optinel Systems
PLEXiS(TM) MFX Transport Solution for the Island of Oahu
Optinel Systems, a privately held provider of converged network solutions, announced today
The addition of Oceanic Time Warner Cable, Time Warner Hawaii Division, to Optinel's growing MSO customer base, is a testament to the effectiveness and value of the PLEXiS transport solution. Optinel's PLEXiS hardware and software products offer service providers the scalability, capacity and network control necessary to enable a variety of advanced services with ultra-high network reliability and proven economic advantages. This deployment is the fifth large-scale commercial installation of the PLEXiS solution, with several more currently underway.
The PLEXiS system represents the latest technology available for network transport, capable of supporting from just a few to more than 80,000 video streams per fiber over distances of greater than 500km. The multi-format nature of the PLEXiS MFX transport system coupled with the ease of scalability allows a wide variety of services to be simultaneously transported, providing Oceanic Time Warner Cable, with the hardware and software tools to capture and expand revenue-generating opportunities beyond their currently offered services.
Key to this deployment is Optinel's highly scalable optical Gigabit Ethernet solution. Available in multiple transceiver, transmitter and receiver formats, this comprehensive suite of products provides 1, 2.5 or 10 Gbps of unidirectional or bidirectional capacity per wavelength, allowing a perfect balance between high network capacity and granular scalability.
"The Oceanic Time Warner Cable deployment of the PLEXiS MFX transport system demonstrates Optinel's ability to stretch the limits of optical Ethernet network design," said Jim Faust, CEO of Optinel Systems. "Optinel offers MSOs a complete transport solution that alleviates concerns of future bandwidth limitations while providing the most economically attractive transport solution available on the market today."
"Optinel's highly flexible and scalable PLEXiS transport platform offers an immediate solution to our current migration requirements from distributed to centralized XOD content distribution using GigE transport," said Michael Goodish, vice president of engineering for Oceanic Time Warner Cable. "We will integrate other uni- and bidirectional transport services into the PLEXiS platform as they develop in the future."
