SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Covad Communications Group Inc., (AMEX:DVW), a leading national provider of integrated voice and data communications, has announced a roster of wholesale partners that are selling Covad's ADSL2+ business-class broadband service. These companies are choosing Covad because
"We are very pleased that these industry-leading companies have chosen Covad ADSL2+ to enhance their broadband portfolio," said Eric Weiss, Covad senior vice president and chief marketing officer. "Covad ADSL2+ is uniquely capable of providing the bandwidth to support the increasingly complex broadband needs of our strategic partners and their end users."
Speakeasy, a unit of Best Buy, is the latest addition to the roster of providers that have chosen Covad ADSL2+ to power their next-generation broadband services. Others include: Lightning Bolt (LB) DSL, which currently markets Covad DSL and T1 services to its base of business customers, and recently launched Covad ADSL2+ service; and New York-based Bway.net, which markets Covad ADSL2+ as "the fastest, most stable and economical bandwidth available anywhere, from any provider."
ADSL2+ has been available for several years in countries with advanced broadband infrastructures, such as South Korea and Singapore, but Covad is the first provider to deploy it widely in the US. Covad's standalone ADSL2+ is available today in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, San Diego, the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, and Washington, DC. Three speed tiers are available: up to 8.0 Mbps, up to 10.0 Mbps and up to 15.0 Mbps. Customers within 9,000 feet of a Covad-equipped central office (CO) have access to ADSL2+ services.
ADSL2+ augments Covad's portfolio of business-class broadband offerings, which includes a Bonded T1 service that combines two T1 lines to serve businesses and distributed enterprises with fast, symmetrical data speeds of up to 3.0 Mbps and service level agreements. Covad also offers a residential ADSL2+ product with speeds of up to 8.0 Mbps as part of a bundled line-powered voice solution sold by strategic partner EarthLink in the same 11 markets as standalone ADSL2+.
"Covad brings its partners a decade-plus history of being easy to do business with," said Weiss. Covad has invested in systems and products that make it simple for partners to order, provision and support reliable and secure broadband services. Covad's broad portfolio of wireline and fixed wireless broadband, national wireline footprint, and flexible price/data speed combinations also make it possible for partners of all sizes and capabilities to resell Covad services.
ADSL2+ is available through Covad and its distribution partners. For more information on Covad's full portfolio of DSL, T1, VoIP, and broadband wireless products, call 1-888-GO-COVAD or visit www.covad.com.
