Wi-LAN Inc. (TSX:WIN), a global provider

of broadband wireless communications products and technologies, and Prime Signal Ltd., the broadband wireless company for businesses in British Columbia's lower mainland, today announced Prime Signal is using Wi-LAN's broadband wireless access products to earn a profit providing high speed commercial internet service to businesses in select locations in the Vancouver area. Prime Signal, a wholly owned subsidiary of Delta Cable Communications Ltd., currently services over 200 customers, all with Wi-LAN broadband wireless products. Additional sales of Wi-LAN products are expected to continue as Prime Signal moves into further phases of its broadband wireless network deployments.

"We chose Wi-LAN's broadband wireless products because they provide the throughput, ease of installation, robustness and reliability we need for our bandwidth-intensive business customers," said Peter Scott, Manager of Technical Services, Prime Signal Ltd. "Our broadband wireless networks offer various services including high-speed Internet access, virtual private networking and data transmission services. Our wireless service represents a superior alternative to traditional copper-based data services such as T1, Frame Relay, ISDN or ADSL. With Wi-LAN products, Prime Signal is able to win over wired customers to the greater speed, stability and reliability of broadband wireless service. We continue to welcome new customers onto our world class network, with Wi-LAN as our broadband wireless equipment provider."

Prime Signal's broadband wireless data services offer their business enterprise customers greater speed and reliability than wired services with substantial cost savings. Customer retention has been close to 100%, and many of Prime Signal's customers are high technology organizations with demanding requirements for high-speed, secure, stable and reliable networks.

"Prime Signal provides Sierra Wireless with a fast, reliable, cost-effective alternative to traditional copper based data services," said Jeff Connery, Director, IT & Services, Sierra Wireless Inc. "The Prime Signal wireless broadband network has proven to be stable and secure and is a key part of our high availability network strategy. We would have no hesitation in recommending Prime Signal to other organizations."

Prime Signal provides broadband wireless service to business customers in select locations in and around Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. All Prime Signal customers are provided with broadband wireless service with a choice of bandwidth between 1 Megabit per second (Mbps) and 3 Mbps. Higher speeds are available in various custom configurations. All data rates are software controlled and customers may vary their level of service seasonally. Wi-LAN's products allow Prime Signal to offer symmetric service with uplink speeds that are equal to downlink speeds, unlike many competing wired and wireless technologies that offer relatively slow uplink speeds. An extensive assortment of applications and protocols such as Citrix, Terminal Services, and Virtual Private Networks are transmitted over the Prime Signal network.

"Prime Signal has proven the business model for competitive broadband wireless services in a North American urban environment," said Wanda Posehn, Vice President, Canadian Sales, Wi-LAN Inc. "Broadband wireless access has significant benefits over traditional wired services for business customers, even in cities that have an extensive wired infrastructure. We consider Prime Signal to be an exemplary network for wireless Internet service in Canada, as they demonstrate their capability repeatedly with tremendous network management operations, a remarkable business and service plan and their continued growth over the last three years."

"We expect Wi-LAN's high-performance broadband wireless products will continue to meet Prime Signal's wireless data and emerging voice-over-IP requirements, providing them and their customers with very cost-effective and reliable service," said Nico Roelofsen, Vice President, Global Sales, Wi-LAN Inc. "Prime Signal has built a very impressive customer-centric network using our Ultima3 product series and, to a lesser extent, our legacy AWE products. As we implement continuing improvements and cost reductions, our products should allow them to accelerate their already impressive growth."

Wi-LAN's Ultima3 product series is designed to meet the needs of license-exempt wireless Internet service providers, telecommunications companies, and enterprises looking to build or extend broadband communications infrastructures. Using a cellular-based frequency reuse point-to-multipoint network design linked by point-to-point units, Wi-LAN's scalable Ultima3 solution can easily serve a large customer base. Coverage cells can be added and expanded quickly and cost effectively. By starting small and expanding, network operators experience early profits, and enterprises realize incremental cost savings. Ultima3 is based on Wi-LAN's patented MC-DSSS technology.

Wi-LAN designs and markets broadband wireless access products with features that match various customer needs, regulatory requirements and network topographies. Detailed product information is available at www.wi-lan.com.
