NORTH BRUNSWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 6, 1998-- ITXC Corp announced Thursday that it is routing customer calls not only to every phone in the United States, but also has the ability to route to every phone in the world using a combination of PSTN and its 34 certified Affiliate gateway sites located in 15 countries.
This footprint of installed and certified gateways establishes the company as the operator of the most extensive international wholesale Internet telephony network.
Calls come from pre-paid calling card companies, call-back companies, CLECs, carriers and ISPs. They are being routed today in IP format to the following countries directly on ITXC's network of Affiliates using its WWeXchange Service: -0-
Turkey Thailand Lebanon Ukraine Pakistan Spain South Korea Russia Singapore United States Taiwan Israel Australia ITXC Limitada (which covers Mainland China Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Hong Kong Chile, Argentina)
-0-
ITXC has an additional thirteen countries, some with multiple sites currently in final deployment that are planned to be operational by the end of August. Nine of these countries are solely reached through peering arrangements with other Internet carriers. -0-
Bangladesh France Columbia Italy Ecuador UK Germany Ukraine Japan Venezuela Greece Canada Finland

In addition to these 51 locations where ITXC has local IP termination, ITXC can complete calls to every phone in the world through a combination of Internet telephony and traditional PSTN. If there is no ITXC-certified gateway in a destination city, WWeXchange Service completes the call from the US to the destination city using traditional long distance.
ITXC's buying power and experience allow it to obtain this international long distance at much lower rates than most ITSPs would be able to achieve on their own. Moreover, since outbound calling rates from the U.S. are the cheapest in the world, international callers achieve significant savings by having their calls routed through the Internet to the U.S. and from there to other international destinations.
The best savings are achieved when calls can be made all the way to the destination city on the Internet.
ITXC Corp sells its WWeXchange Service to Affiliates in all of the above countries. WWeXchange provides, authorization/authentication, intelligent routing and settlement services so that the Affiliate can enter the market immediately and does not need to have bilateral arrangements with companies all over the world.
The Affiliate has one relationship with ITXC Corp which handles all of those details for them.
ITXC will be adding additional sites every month through 1998 as well as additional capacity at existing sites. ITXC projects that it will have over 75 international gateway sites in its network by the end of 1998. The company currently supports gateways from VocalTec and Lucent.
Each site offering termination must pass ITXC Certification for quality and is monitored by a 7x24 Network Operations Center (NOC) to assure that quality is maintained.
