ITXC Adds SS7 And ISDN Support to Its Global Network;More Than Doubles Hub Capacity.

PRINCETON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 28, 1999--

ITXC Corp (NASDAQ: ITXC), today announced support for SS7 - the signaling protocol of first tier traditional telephony - and ISDN at its switching hubs in New York City and Los Angeles.

These technical developments reduce the

time it takes to complete calls and increase call completion percentages as well as integrating ITXC.net with the most advanced features of the public switched telephone network (PSTN).

ITXC also has increased capacity at its New York hub by 150% and by 200% at its Los Angeles hub to accommodate increased demand from carrier customers for interconnection to ITXC.net. The company can now handle 4800 simultaneous calls in New York and 2880 in Los Angeles.

"The quality of Internet telephony has improved dramatically over the last two years," said Tom Evslin, ITXC chairman and CEO. "Implementation of SS7 is one of the last steps necessary in making Internet quality and capability good enough so that we can compete for every last minute of international traffic on quality as well as price."

The network buildout gives ITXC the ability to ramp up the traffic volume that it sends to its 80 some affiliates in over 37 countries who are operating Cisco, Lucent and VocalTec Internet telephony gateways. It also makes it possible for ITXC to provide better completion for calls coming into the United States from non-U.S. affiliates.

"While our research suggests continuing pricing pressures in traditional international calling markets, voice over these new packet technologies is in the the sweet spot, with a very positive growth outlook," says Robert Rosenberg, President of Parsippany NJ-based Insight Research Corp, a telecommunications market research firm. "The addition of SS7 signaling protocols and other technologies are needed to allow Internet telephony to become an equal to PSTN in quality and thereby meet industry projections."
