Under the terms of the agreement, ICO customers will be able to roam onto AT&T's digital network when ICO initiates its satellite-enabled services in the fourth quarter of next year. AT&T serves more than 10 million subscribers in the United States. AT&T has licenses in more than 250 markets in the U.S.
ICO has now secured 54 roaming agreements with network operators worldwide, and is expected to conclude several more in the coming months.
Mary Frost, ICO's Regional General Manager for North America, said: "The agreement in the United States is another milestone in ICO's progress towards commercial launch. North America is a significant potential market for ICO's broad range of services. We expect to sign additional roaming agreements with other cellular networks in North America in the coming months."
