Internet Telephony 2000
SAN DIEGO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 4, 2000
Prototype demonstration to show integration of LongBoard
Multi-Engine Applications Platform LMAP(TM), PalmPilot(TM)
and Microsoft Outlook(R)
LongBoard Inc., a leading telecommunications infrastructure software company today announced that it will demonstrate prototype applications running on the LongBoard Multi-engine Applications (LMAP(TM)) Platform using both a Palm Pilot personal digital assistant (PDA), and Microsoft Outlook. The interactive demonstration will be on display at the Internet Telephony Expo in San Diego, Calif. from October 5-6, 2000 at the LongBoard booth No. 15.
The PDA application uses the standard contact database on the Palm Pilot to initiate a call via the LMAP(TM) platform. The demonstration also includes placing a call from a Microsoft Outlook application using the same platform.
"The ability to quickly develop and add new network services is critical to service providers," said Bill Leslie, Chief Technology Officer of LongBoard. "LongBoard developed these prototype applications to specifically address service provider requirements. Since the services we are demonstrating require very little training, customers should readily adopt them."
LMAP(TM) enables basic and advanced telephony and IP services within a distributed network transport infrastructure. This solution allows carriers to leverage their capital and knowledge investments in existing networks, controlling migration to a next-generation, enhanced-services model. In turn, these advanced services will benefit subscribers by allowing them to take control of their voice and data resources, improving their productivity. Empowering the subscriber in this manner improves customer satisfaction, which in turn benefits service providers with increased customer retention and revenues.
