SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 6, 2000
Shorecliff Communications Inc., the leader in educational and networking events for the broadband wireless industry, Thursday announced the Keynote Speakers for the second annual Broadband Wireless World
The event is to be held March 14 & 15, 2000 in San Francisco.
The Broadband Wireless World Forum is the largest conference and expo devoted exclusively to the service providers and technology suppliers driving the local access delivery of interactive broadband services over fixed wireless networks.
Spotlighting the event are prominent executives from four of the world's leading fixed wireless spectrum holders. Buddy Pickle, chief operating officer and president of Teligent, Inc., with wireless broadband operations in major markets throughout the United States, will provide one Keynote Address on the first day.
Dan Akerson, who has recently left Nextel to accept the position of chairman and chief executive officer of NEXTLINK, will provide a Keynote Address. NEXTLINK Communications is North America's largest holder of LMDS licenses and through the company's investment in Whispra Networks, is the leading spectrum winner in the recent Canadian 24Ghz and 28Ghz spectrum auctions.
Robert Finch, who as senior vice president of MCI Worldcom engineered that company's acquisitions of fixed wireless spectrum in the MMDS frequency bands, will provide the first of two Keynote Addresses on the second day of the conference.
Following him is Lynn Forester, founder and co-CEO of FirstMark Communications International LLC, which has fixed wireless activities ongoing in 12 major European countries. A subsidiary of the company, FirstMark Communications Deutschland, was granted 129 licenses last September in Germany to provide Wireless Local Loop services to more than 32 million people.
"We are honored with the participation of these four industry leaders," said Julie Thomas, vice president of Shorecliff Communications and the conference director. "Through their vision, experience and knowledge, the telecommunications industry will gain a deeper understanding of the critical role advanced wireless technology will play in the ongoing broadband revolution."
"These four individuals compliment the entire lineup of featured speakers at the Broadband Wireless World Forum. Their combined presence, with the exhibitors at the Broadband Wireless World Forum, will quite possibly comprise the most expertise on fixed wireless technology, systems and business together in one place," Thomas said.
Alcatel USA, the signature sponsor for the Broadband Wireless World Forum, will showcase multi-megabit per second wireless access technology in the conference segment of the event, as will Platinum-level sponsors Ensemble Communications, Nortel Networks, Triton Network Systems, WavTrace and Cisco Systems.
Associate corporate sponsors include Harris Corp., Hughes Network Systems, Ericsson, IBM, Netro Corp., Spike Technologies, Giganet Ltd., WinNet MCS, Wireless Inc. and Malibu Networks.
