LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 6, 2001

Solution to Integrate Artisoft's TeleVantage Software Phone

System With Sound Advantage's SANDi Electronic Receptionist

Artisoft, Inc. (Nasdaq:ASFT), a leading provider of software-based phone

systems, and Sound Advantage, a leading provider of voice-driven computer telephony solutions, today announced that they have formed a partnership through Artisoft's Open Communications Alliance to provide speech activated business communications solutions. This joint solution will allow end users to use Artisoft's TeleVantage software-based PBX with the SANDi electronic receptionist from Sound Advantage, managing business communications through easy-to-use speech recognition and graphical user interfaces. The combination of the two award-winning solutions will provide small- to medium-sized businesses and corporate branch offices with a unique, productivity enhancing phone system that is cost-effective and simple to expand and upgrade for an investment that gains value over time.

Unlike proprietary phone systems, Artisoft's TeleVantage operates on Windows NT(R) systems and uses off-the-shelf computer and telephony hardware, lowering the total cost of ownership for businesses. TeleVantage provides intelligent call management, ACD functionality, a graphical interface, IP telephony, Web browser capability, and messaging features.

SANDi is an electronic receptionist that enhances business communications through advanced speech recognition technology. SANDi's Natural Dialog Interface recognizes conversational English and responds to commands such as "call," "transfer" and "voicemail," enabling callers to access phone system features without using touchtones.

The vendors are working together to develop and co-market solutions on the CT

Media standard, a platform that is hardware-independent, and interoperable with software from multiple vendors. Artisoft's TeleVantage CTM Suite, which will be bundled on the Intel Converged Communications Platform, is a unique, modular phone system that delivers business-critical telecommunications services on a highly scalable platform. It includes a fully integrated, software-based private branch exchange, or Soft Switch, and a set of modular, scalable phone system applications that include automated attendant and voicemail.

"Integrating SANDi with TeleVantage allows the vast functionality of both systems to be accessed through common interfaces with tremendous flexibility and ease-of-use," said Michael Metcalf, president and CEO of Sound Advantage. "Businesses will be able to dramatically increase employee productivity even as they enhance the professionalism of their interactions with their customers."

"This is yet another example of how the open architecture of Artisoft's TeleVantage phone system increases the value of our customers' investments over time, as new technology and applications are made available," said Carol Meier, Vice President of Marketing for Artisoft. "Businesses will immediately recognize the benefits of speech recognition technology for their employees and customers as they begin to deploy interoperable SANDi and TeleVantage solutions."

Artisoft and Sound Advantage will jointly present their collaborative plans at CT Expo on March 7 at 11:00 AM in the Dialogic booth, number 1301. Artisoft will also demo TeleVantage 3.5 and a preview of TeleVantage CTM Suite throughout the show in the Artisoft booth 1211. SANDi can be seen at Sound Advantage's booth 1033.
