LecStar Telecom Inc., a regional telecommunications company and wholly owned subsidiary of Fonix(R) Corp. (OTC BB: FNIX), announces the appointment of Doug Springfield to the newly created position of vice president

of sales. Springfield brings to this position 30 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, including marketing, sales and product development. At LecStar he will be responsible for developing and managing the direct sales force and agent channel programs. Springfield will report to LecStar's President and CEO W. Dale Smith.

Most recently, Springfield served as executive vice president of Resultrek Consulting, where he provided strategic marketing consulting to telecommunications and financial services clients. He previously spent 28 years with BellSouth in executive-level marketing, product management and sales positions for business markets. He was instrumental in developing and launching various products and marketing initiatives.

Springfield holds a master of business administration degree from the University of Alabama and a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Auburn University. He serves on the board of directors of The Empty Stocking Fund in Atlanta.
