CELEBRATION, Fla. -- VoX Communications Corp., eLEC Communications Corp.'s (OTCBB:ELEC) wholesale and retail provider of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services nationwide, today announced that American Cable Services, an independent cable operator located in Ocala, Fla., is deploying VoX services as the broadband phone component of a new "triple play" offer, which also includes cable TV and high speed Internet. The offering is first being deployed in Little Harbor, a coastal resort community of 2,300 residences in Ruskin, Fla.
Over the next several years, American Cable is contracted to provide the bundled service to approximately 150,000 multi-family residence units in Florida, many of which will have 'mandatory phone' under their Home Owners Association covenants. The integrated offering becomes an amenity that is paid for as part of the resident's monthly dues.
"We are very pleased to join forces with American Cable to deliver broadband phone service for community development projects like Little Harbor," said Mark Richards, VoX's president and CIO. "We've made a strategic decision to become the preferred broadband phone solution for cable operators nationwide. There are more than 1,100 independent cable operators like American Cable and many of them are weighing plans for phone services. This contract represents a large and meaningful market opportunity for VoX."
"VoX has helped us quickly meet demand for a bundled solution. The addition of broadband phone service to our offering has improved our ability to retain valuable customers and pursue additional opportunities that are generating new revenue," said Jim George, president of American Cable. "The ability to deploy a project like those being deployed in Florida would have been next to impossible a few years ago. Companies like American Cable and VoX are changing that."
Two eLEC board members, Gayle Greer and Michael Khalilian, have extensive experience in the cable industry. Vermont-based Stowe Cable also recently launched private-label phone service powered by VoX Communications.
