California K-12 Districts Get Green Light to Purchase Trillion Wireless WAN and VoIP Services with California Teleconnect...

AUSTIN, Texas -- Trillion today announced it was issued a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity by the California Public Utilities Commission. This is necessary for a provider to become an eligible vendor under the California Teleconnect Fund (CTF). The CTF funds enable eligible K-12 districts in California to purchase Trillion Broadband Wide Area Network services, Voice over IP telephony services and Internet services at a 50% discount or more.

The California Teleconnect Fund (CTF) is a California program administered by the California Public Utilities Commission to provide additional discounts to schools, libraries, hospitals and community based organizations for telephone and telecommunications services. The CTF is funded by a surcharge on California's residential phone bills and has provided over $22 million to eligible schools and libraries in California in the past six years.

Trillion also participates in the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) E-Rate program. E-Rate is a federally funded program in which the Schools and Libraries Program of the Universal Service Fund makes discounts available to eligible schools and libraries for telecommunication services and Internet access.

Because Trillion participates in both the CTF and the E-Rate programs, qualified K-12 school districts in California can receive substantial discounts on telecommunications services. Districts first receive their designated E-Rate discount and then receive the CTF discount.

"We are very excited to have received our CPCN. This approval enables our California education customers to receive a substantial CTF discount on their broadband wide area network, Voice over IP and Internet services," said Bear Poth, CEO of Trillion.
