Sen. Schumer Calls for Probe of Cell-Phone 'Dead Zones' in New York City.

Oct. 13--Wireless companies are a bunch of cell-outs, Sen. Chuck Schumer charged yesterday.

The companies have done nothing to fix service in the city's 65 "dead zones" where cell phones often fail, Schumer said.

"Cell phone service in New York continues to be terrible, and the cell phone companies are doing nothing at all to improve it," said Schumer, who called for an inquiry into whether the service gaps violate federal law.
