Are Joint Mailings a Good Idea?

Date: Monday, November 8 2004

In some cases, joint mailing, or mailing along with another company, is the only way to get in touch with a highly coveted list of consumers. For this reason, joint mailing is a fairly common practice among frequent direct mailers.

However, small and growing businesses that lack large mailing budgets may find it difficult to tap into such direct mailing networks. That doesn't mean that small businesses can't share their customer's addresses with each other and split postage on joint mailings. Like most good ideas, successful small business joint mailings require resourcefulness. Many companies have similar customer bases. Your task is to find and partner with those that also have established mailing lists. Trade goods or services for their mailing lists, or offer a joint mailing.
