Academic improvement takes center stage as TBS Superstation launches the dynamic new TBS Superstation GoldStar Student program, honoring eighth graders from the Metro-Atlanta area who have shown marked improvement.
Thursday, May 15, the Superstation will celebrate the academic achievements of 70 students from 12 school systems at a special luncheon to be held on the Terrace Level of the Omni Hotel in downtown Atlanta.
"The TBS Superstation GoldStar Student program gives us a wonderful opportunity to shine the spotlight on students who have really turned a corner, personally and academically," said Michael Watchulonis, director of public affairs for TBS Superstation. "These students are truly inspiring to all of us, and TBS Superstation is proud to recognize them."
The TBS Superstation GoldStar Student program is an at-large partnership between TBS Superstation and school systems in the Metro-Atlanta area. The project is designed to motivate and congratulate eighth grade students for outstanding achievement in several categories important to scholastic success:
-- Significant improvement in academic studies
-- Positive change in attitude
-- Excellent attendance record
-- Good school citizenship
-- Commitment to being drug and alcohol free
Each TBS Superstation GoldStar student will receive a framed certificate and TBS Superstation premiums. The honorees will also appear in a special public service announcement to air locally on the Superstation. A complete list of the 2003 TBS Superstation GoldStar Students is below.
