20+ Tips for Cold Calling in the New Year  PT 14

16. Cold calling is about finding a fit as oppose to begging for business.  Okay people here’s the thing. There’s a lot of business out there. Your job(and your cold caller’s) as a sales person is to find that business. This can take a lot of time so don’t freak out if it doesn’t happen over night.

17. Send literature via e-mail and direct mail and follow up on it. The debate still goes as to whether sending literature is effective. But since when isn’t keeping your name in front of your target audience effective?  It becomes ineffective when the info isn’t followed up by a phone call.

18. Cold calling isn’t enough. Get your name in front of your target in as many ways as possible. It occurred to me that in may ways cold calling is very out of date. If you’re looking to expand your business look to inexpensive ways for getting your name in front of your target audience.  Some ways might include:
A. Direct mail/E-mail
B. Paid speaking engagements-I always pick up clients thru this venue
C. Advertising-Look for venues specializing in small business
