BOSTON -- Yankee Group today announced the appointment of Mary Modahl and Larry Weber to its Board of Directors effective March 20, 2006. Both Modahl and Weber bring significant industry knowledge and unique perspectives to Yankee Group's board, which will help guide the business direction
Modahl, a former research and marketing executive with Forrester Research, is an independent consultant. As a leading industry veteran, Modahl was recognized most recently for helping an investor group to start up a research firm in pharmaceutical drug discovery and assisting in the development of American Health Policy Network. She is widely quoted in national publications including The Wall Street Journal and the Boston Globe; in 2000 BusinessWeek named her to its "Top 25 in eCommerce" list. She is the author of the HarperBusiness book, Now or Never: How Companies Must Change Today to Win the Battle for Internet Consumers.
Weber, chairman and founder of W2 Group, Inc., is regarded as a visionary leader in the field of technology marketing communications. Earlier in his career, he founded one of the world's largest and most established technology public relations firms--The Weber Group--and online marketing firm Thunder House. Weber sold both companies to The Interpublic Group of Companies in 1996. In 2000, Weber led the Interpublic's Advanced Marketing Services Group as the chairman and CEO. In 2001, Weber spearheaded the merger of Weber Shandwick Worldwide and BSMG Worldwide--now the world's largest public relations agency.
"We are thrilled to have Mary Modahl and Larry Weber joining our Board of Directors," said Emily Nagle Green, Yankee Group president and CEO. "They are both powerful thinkers and we're fortunate to have some of their energy and insight to aid our growth plans."
With the election of Modahl and Weber, the Yankee Group board now consists of five members, including Tim Dibble, a founder and managing partner of Alta Communications; and Emily Nagle Green, Yankee Group president and CEO. B. Lane MacDonald, general partner of Alta Communications, serves as chairman.
