Sales Rescue Team Mission 8: Dot Girl Products
Sales Rescue Team shares some ideas with high growth consumer product company, Dot Girl Products. Great niche serving teen girls.
My name is Kathy Pickus and, along with my sister Terri Goodwin, own Dot Girl First Period Products, located at www.dotgirlproducts.com. Our featured product is The Dot Girl's First Period Kit, a simple, stylish tool to help parents prepare daughters for their first menstrual period.
Our 2008 sales more than doubled from 2007 and we are building on that success. We would be very flattered if you would consider us for a review.

Hi Terri and Kathy, I like what you have done. Getting the word out is going to be your primary focus. From the discussion of your company and sales growth, I am not sure how big your company is, although I have a sense that it is very small.
Guerrilla marketing may be your friend. Getting MySpace and Facebook presence, About.com presence, as well as good web tools to optimize your search engine strength. I suggest that you simultaneously market to girls and their mothers (guardians).

One more BIG "low hanging fruit" opportunity. You've got all of this great page rank, but people are likely chosing other sites b/c your description tags are not clear to what you are trying to provide. Please think of editing your description tags to be compelling with a call to action. Each and every page should have it's own, unique title and description tag. Your current one says: "Copyright ? 2006 Dot Girl First Period Products. All Rights Reserved. KOTEX, LIGHTDAYS and the Red Dot Design are trademarks of Kimberly-Clark Worldwide, ..." -- Indicating that Google chose this for you. If you write your own, you could say: "Visit Dot Girl today to get your own First Period Guide and Kit and First Period Products"
Then, to get more traffic and business fast, I've got to throw in the PPC Plug! If you have an advertising budget, you can't beat Google Adwords. Doing a quick search, it seems that users are searching for "first period" nearly 50K times per month, and thousands and thousands of other variations. Why not use PPC to get more of the market share. Looking at the stats, it looks like there's nearly ZERO competition for most of those terms!!! It's a goldmine. Go for it!

What I don't see here on your landing page is a quick and easy call to action. Many people know that a photo is a link pretty quickly, but I'd be curious to know where people go next from your home page. Do they click that photo most of the time? I missed it myself and had to come back to it. But, then again, I'm a guy...
The one thing I would seriously recommend is to put a video or audio testimonial into that section. I'm a writer, but people don't read as much anymore. I have data points from MarketingSherpa (they are an affiliate partner) and their sister company MarketingExperiments that show that video gets people to stay around longer. So if you do use it, right near it, put a call to action link or button back into the main products.
