KFC today announced it will move the creative portion of its domestic advertising account on an "interim" basis to BBDO Worldwide, a division of Omnicom, from Young & Rubicam, KFC's agency of record.
"Y&R has done an outstanding job over the years building the KFC business into one of the world's leading brands. We are very appreciative of their long-standing partnership, and the tremendous contributions they have made to our company and franchisees. However, we have concluded it is time to partner with a new agency to get a fresh marketing perspective to drive same store sales growth. BBDO will become KFC's interim advertising agency until Cheryl Bachelder, KFC's new President, our franchise leadership and I have had an opportunity to fully assess our business opportunities and determine the agency we want to partner with over the long-term," said Terry Davenport, KFC's Chief Marketing Officer.
Based in Louisville, KY, KFC is the world's leading chicken restaurant chain, with a 55% share of quick service chicken restaurant sales, over 5,200 domestic
locations, and system sales of $4.3 billion. KFC is a division of Tricon Global Restaurants, Inc., also based in Louisville, KY.
