Backpage - Another Free Local Advertising Source

Monday, March 30 2009

If you have advertised on CraigsList before, did you know there is sort of a CraigsList alternative called Backpage.com? Like CraigsList, it's a free classified advertising site with certain paid add-ons available.

Backpage is different in that it works with pre-established local publications and shows up in their classified sections. For example, here in Seattle where I am, it posts your advertisements to the Seattle Weekly, a publication that has been around since.. hmm... I'm not sure when. Long before the net.

Most advertisements are free and there are certain add-on features you can get at Backpage that aren't available with Craigslist. For example, you can set your ad to automatically re-post when it expires for a small fee. You can also post your ad in multiple cities; something is doable, but not encouraged on Craigslist. You can create a free account at Backpage and it also lets you post without creating an account.

So if you are looking to expand the advertising channels for your home based business, give Backpage a look.
