As I’ve made clear, my specialty is in licensing. But if you’re interested in bringing your product to market yourself, Kim Babjak may have the resources and answers you need. A QVC agent and president of her company “KimCo Manufacturing”, Kim has extensive experience in bringing products to market around the world.

Kim grew up in an inventor’s home – and was forever altered by it.

“My dad was an inventor, and as a kid, I’d help out with products. After understanding and enjoying the development process, there was no way I could go get a ‘real’ job. I needed to find other sources of income.”

Kim’s success as a personal product and marketing consultant is largely due to her extensive contacts around the world, particularly manufacturers in Asia. She is intimately familiar with over twenty manufacturers, including those that produce plastics, fabrics, and tooling. These contacts allow her to take roughly formed sketches and prototypes and transfer them into complete ones.

“The process I undergo to bring an idea to market is very product specific. After I assess if the product fits into my genre of experience, I begin generating interest in potential buyers. I have the ability to bring a rough idea to buyers – access that most individuals simply don’t have. I am to quickly feel out the perception of buyers.”

Kim recommends that inventors really understand the type of market they are pursuing. One of her inventions has had a long and successful showing on QVC. Why?

“The audience of QVC is largely female, middle-aged, with expendable income. They can buy products solely for themselves. My product, a bedskirt that is able to zip on and off, is still on television today because it fits that market.”
