Mortgage refinancing may not be all the rage like it was a few years ago, but that hasn't stopped locally based Ace Mortgage Funding Inc. from making its fourth consecutive appearance on IBJ's list of the Indianapolis area's fastest-growing private companies.

The mortgage broker ranks ninth this year thanks to a 197-percent increase in revenue, from $22.9 million in 2002 to $68.0 million in 2004. In that same time, its work force swelled from 250 to 600. The company offers home loans in 28 states and has branch offices in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio and Tennessee.

One industry ranking put Ace ninth among the nation's top mortgage brokers in 2003, the most recent ranking available, with $1.2 billion in transactions.

Last fall, the company was No. 103 on Inc. magazine's ranking of the nation's 500 fastest-growing private companies.
