Mar. 17--St. Patrick's Day is Gene Byrnes' "national holiday." The Butte native and Irish descendant goes all out for the event -- with help from his wife, Patsy -- and their celebrations range from the common to the peculiar.
"Being Irish means everything in the world to me," said Gene, 65, who refuses to work on St. Paddy's. "That is my history, and I am proud to be an Irish American. March 17 is my national holiday."
