With the signing of this contract, Tele-Direct establishes itself solidly at the leading edge of the Yellow Pages(TM) industry by having its directories printed on heat-set presses. By moving to a heat-set printing process, Transcontinental and Tele-Direct will be in a position to produce a Yellow Pages(TM) which has higher quality and is better positioned to meet the changing needs of the directory advertiser.
In addition to printing all publications in heat-set, Tele- Direct and Transcontinental will be pioneering the use of Direct-to-Plate technology in the directory industry. This state- of-the-art technology using digital output streamlines the prepress process, accelerates throughput and provides superior reproductive quality.
