Firefox has generated some dedicated WOM PR, but this one takes the cake. It's a crop circe, in the form of a Firefox logo and it's viewable on Google Earth and Google Maps. They've even parked cars and planes nearby to spell Fx.
Firefox has great success because they reach their users in a personal way, constantly communicating that they are absolutely nothing without their open source (read unpaid) developers and dedicated users. Don't get me wrong, some of the Firefox love is due to the Microsoft hate. And, I'm know some people like to root for the underdog, but the fact remains that this WOM superstar is successfully encouraging real love from their users, and that's innovative advertising.
