Santa Monica illustrator PicturePlane Imaging had to make a quick switch to work a patriotic theme into the image it was creating for the NFL's Super Bowl XXXVI poster.

Last summer, the company was awarded the contract to create a New Orleans-type design that would be used on the poster,

as well as tickets, advertising, programs and apparel.

"After the incident in September, they decided to change the image," said John Cudin, managing director at PicturePlane.

So the illustrators superimposed an image of the American flag reflecting off the championship Lombardi Trophy.

For other clients, especially video game makers, the patriotic fervor was short-lived.

"Initially (video game makers) said, What would it take to rework some of these (campaigns)?' But no one did' Cudin said. "Kids still like to blow things up and shoot each other,"
