How To Market a Hard-to-Explain Product

Far too many entrepreneurs believe that if they have a good product, then customers will come. This is usually not true. Instead, success is built with public relations campaigns, sales and marketing, and advertising. Sales are built by finding your customers and then telling them why you are the best.

Start with a good team of marketing consultants. Hire them to rewrite your copy and presentation materials so the product is easy to explain and promote. You'd be surprised at what a difference this can make. In traditional direct mail you have two seconds to catch a reader's attention. You don't have much more on the Internet.

Then hire the best salespeople you can afford. In addition, the sales team needs to build your alliances on the Web. What sites are you linking to? Where can you advertise? What portal sites are you on? Build your visibility, your reviews, your online and offline advertising campaign, and see how sales increase.
