Band Of Gypsies Chief Readies Plans For '99
LOS ANGELES--Veteran creative John Stein is assuming a new ad-related role as the 1999 president of the 20-year-old Los Angeles Creative Club.
Stein, who heads creative

boutique Band of Gypsies in Pacific Palisades, Calif., will take the reins Jan. 1 from current president Joe Bui, a creative director at Italia/Gal in Los Angeles.
"Under John's leadership, the club can become even stronger," Bui said. "He's the perfect choice to take us to the next level."
"I don't think it's any surprise that the Los Angeles creative community needs a shot in the arm," Stein said. "We have a number of ideas on how we can accomplish that." Inviting top creative directors, editors, composers, directors, and headhunters to speak is just one of the options, he said.
"Anyone who's part of the creative process in Los Angeles can make an important contribution," Stein said.
The club has sponsored an annual International Student Awards Show since 1989. This year's event is set for Nov. 19 at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, Calif.
Stein, who also runs an office in Venice, Calif., with BullsEye Communications executive Pat Robertson, counts Santa Monica Bank, MGM Home Entertainment and the Jewish Community Foundation among his clients.
