Area companies use MySpace as free marketing place

MySpace.com is the Web site the world uses to stay in touch. Visitors can create their own Web pages on the site to download pictures and videos, write bios about themselves, and more. Many use the site to keep visitors up-to-date on the events in their lives.
Bands picked up on the usefulness of the site. Several famous bands, such as U2 and The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and local groups use it as a means to promote their music. Now, businesses throughout Central Pennsylvania are catching on and using the site as a free tool to promote their products and services.
Hummelstown-based Internet marketing company The Burg Blurb created a MySpace page two months ago. Owner and chief designer Dave McCullough said his company's MySpace page leads potential customers to the company's regular Web site, www.burgblurb.com.
Burgblurb.com is similar to MySpace.com in that it provides advertising opportunities to its customers on its Web site. Any opportunity the company can take to increase hits to its regular Web site is helpful, McCullough said.
