There is a definite link between happy employees and happy customers. In most cases, satisfied and contented employees will do everything they can to keep customers satisfied and impressed. And happy customers mean repeat business and ongoing revenue streams.
To create this idyllic world, do everything you can to empower your employees. Employees who feel involved in the company and who have enough control to solve customer problems are the happiest and most-effective workers. Do not over-manage. Most employees make the right decisions if given the proper information and latitude. Encourage and reward teamwork.
However, be cautious that you don't go overboard. If you spend too much time on niceties, you will have happy employees and happy customers but no money. It is still crucial that you remain in charge and manage. Do not allow employees to waste time chatting with each other and with customers. Instead, encourage and reward productivity and efficacy. In that way, everyone — including you — will be happy.
