Analysts Hope Recent Wave of Mergers Will Give Boost to Wall Street.

Jul. 9--Companies are once again starting to play "Let's Make a Deal," announcing a spate of friendly and hostile mergers that could give Wall Street a much-needed boost.

"Now that the [stock] market is coming back, it's clear that everyone recognizes you need to do mergers to support your business strategy," said Paul Gibbs, head of mergers research for J.P. Morgan Chase.
