Finer spunbond filaments.(Nonwovens)

Addressing the need for a cheap method of producing spunbond nonwovens with smaller diameter filaments using existing machinery, US-based inventors have devised a two-stage drawing process.

Workers from DuPont, headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware, claim their technique can reduce the average filament diameter by at least 5% compared with those that are not heated and drawn in a second step, but are otherwise treated identically.
