New 2005 Edition of Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete

The awaited 2005 Edition (ACI 318R-05) is now available from the American Concrete Institute. It contains the latest code requirements for concrete building design and construction alongside the corresponding

commentary, and includes several improvements and changes from the 2002 edition. It is available for $153.50 (ACI members $93.00).

Highlights of the new Standard (pictured left) include drawings and specifications; inspection; materials; durability requirements; concrete quality, mixing and placing; formwork; construction joints; reinforcement details; analysis and design; strength and serviceability; flexural and axial loads; shear and torsion; development and splices of reinforcement; slab systems; walls; footings; precast concrete; composite flexural members; prestressed concrete; strength evaluation of existing structures; provisions for seismic design; structural plain concrete; strut-and-tie modelling; and anchoring to concrete.
