efoodcommerce expands into warehousing

U.S. Cold Storage, Burris Foods, Central Cold Storage, Henningsen Cold Storage, and Hanson Cold Storage are among the refrigerated warehouse companies which have signed on with efoodcommerce. tom's new "surplus" warehouse space program.

efoodcommerce was initially designed to help food manufacturers

buy and sell surplus product, says efoodcommerce president Sanjiv Kakkar, so the move to helping the refrigerated warehouse industry fill surplus space is a natural. "If one warehouse is overbooked, we want to help companies find another nearby that is empty," he says.

The company is also signing up transportation companies for a listing service that was set to go on-line at presstime.

"We Want to be the place where users can come to look for solutions to the entire food business: product, warehouse, and transportation," says head of marketing Jay Sikand.

The warehouse listings cost $600 per facility that the company chooses to list. Currently, there are more than 70 facilities listed on the efoodcommerce site.
