New OTTIS ice cream is low glycemic and superpremium.

Quantum Food Design (QFD), a leading carbohydrate engineering and advanced food technology company, has introduced OTTIS, an all-natural, low glycemic, nutritionally fortified, superpremium ice-cream. The company reports that the name is an acronym for "Only the Taste Is Sinful." QFD recently

received the Low Glycemic and Diabetic Friendly Seals of Approval for use on the product's food labels and in marketing. The company notes it has passed all of the clinical and scientific criteria required for foods seeking this designation. In addition, the company reports that "during the clinical human trials there was no evidence that OTTIS Ice Cream used any fat-storage mechanism, nor were there any reports of gastrointestinal distress." "In both diabetics and non-diabetics, OTTIS Ice Cream performed as a very low glycemic food with a low glycemic load."

Though OTTIS is being positioned as a super-premium ice cream, it does not act like regular "fattening" ice cream, according to QFD, as it "does not stimulate adipose tissue fat-storage." A key component of OTTIS is its sweetener, Beyond*Sugar, another product of QFD, which was developed under a new patent pending process known as Beyonding. The company describes Beyond*Sugar as "a revolutionary all-natural, low calorie, low glycemic, nutritionally fortified, fully-functional sugar sweetener." The product was introduced in September at the Annual World Obesity and Weight Loss Congress.

Beyond*Sugar, which qualifies under the descriptor GRAS (Generally Regarded as Safe), is capable of replacing all cane, beet and corn sugars as the only sugar sweetener in many popular established branded foods and beverages, thereby, improving their nutritional profile while assuring the same flavor and taste. The company notes that Beyond*Sugar allows diabetics to eat the same foods as everyone else, without sacrificing taste or creating problems with their sugar control.

Quantum Food Design was founded in 1997 by Dr. Greg Robbins, who was later joined by Dr. Knopf, and Fred Heffner. The company is headquartered in Coral Gables, FL.
