Purchase of Texas-Based JRP Adds 29th Distributor to Meritage Network.

Meritage, Inc., the holding company formed in the 1998 merger of the Ellison (Sierra), Hartwig, and Robert E. Morris machine-tool-distribution groups, has purchased JRP Machinery L.L.C. (Houston, Tex.). The acquisition of the three-decades-old firm from its private owners brings the number of

outlets in the Meritage network to 29.

JRP covers South Texas and Southern Louisiana. It has distributed Mori Seiki since 1980, and it also handles Toshiba and Star.

Heading the firm is Mark Mathis, formerly CEO of Magna Machinery Co. Inc. (Fremont, Calif.) and a veteran of the Ellison organization and of Warner & Swasey. All 18 staffers at JRP are being retained.

Meritage CEO Jim Ellison notes his company's base of 600 engineers will bring incomparable support to JRP's region.
