Shell International Exploration and Production BV has selected Invensys as one of the strategic partners for its Smart Fields initiative. Invensys' domain expertise, the unique enabling technologies provided by the ArchestrA architecture and the ArchestrA Collaboration Environment (ACE), and Invensys' business process consulting capabilities helped make the decision.

Eurotherm, a Leesburg, Va.-based manufacturer and supplier of industrial instrumentation for the process control and data acquisition industries, and a unit of Invensys pic, appointed Christopher King as product manager for Eurotherm's Recorder and Data Management product line. King will market Eurotherm's line of graphic, strip-chart, and circular recorders.

Dakota Gasification Company (DGC), a subsidiary of Basin Electric Power Cooperative in Foxboro, Mass., has selected the Foxboro unit of Invensys Process Systems as automation partner for a five-year modernization project at the company's Great Plains Synfuels Plant in Beulah, N.D. The plant produces more than 54 billion standard cubic feet of natural gas annually. Plant byproducts include fertilizers, solvents, phenol, carbon dioxide, and other chemicals.

Prophet 21, a provider of technology solutions for distributors, has acquired Dynamic Data Systems, Inc., the provider of Turns, an enterprise software solution for medical products distributors and distributors in other vertical markets.

Emerson Process Management supplied 36 Rosemount 3051S pressure transmitters for use on a fiscal metering application at the Statoil 0ygarden gas terminal-located just outside Bergen in Norway. Benefits include higher accuracy and reduced calibration frequencies, leading to savings in calibration costs of almost $1000 per transmitter.

Veracel Celulose S.A., a joint venture between Aracruz Celulose S.A. of Brazil and Scandanavian-based Stora Enso Oyj, has awarded Invensys Systems Brasil a multi-million dollar automation contract. Invensys will supply Foxboro I/A Series automation systems and advanced process control applications and associated services for Veracel's grassroots, 900,000 metric ton-per-year bleached eucalyptus pulp mill. The mill is now under construction in Eunpolis in the State of Bahia, Brazil.

Sakor Technologies, Inc., a developer of test instrumentation products for a variety of industries, announced they would use piston supplier Karl Schmidt Unisia, Inc.'s DynoLAB PT test control systems at its new engineering and test center in Fort Wayne, Ind. The facility focuses on durability testing and specialized testing for gasoline, diesel engines, and components.

Green Hills Software, Inc., of Santa Barbara, Calif., is expanding its businesses in Europe and the Middle East (EMEA) following impressive revenue performance over the past year and continuing demand for its Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS), embedded development tool products and technical services for the embedded industry. New sales and support centers have opened in Stockholm, Sweden, and Herzelia, Israel, with more offices opening in Munich, Germany, and other EMEA locations later in the year.
