Acetal copolymer production boosted.

Tiona, the technical polymers business of Celanese AG, Kronberg, Germany, has confirmed it will increase the production of Celcon[R] acetal copolymer in North America from 86,000 tons to 102,000 tons per year by the end of 2004. This expansion involves the multimillion dollar, debottlenecking

project at the company's plant in Bishop, TX, and is intended to meet the projected needs for acetal in 2005 and beyond. The company sees an ongoing demand for Celcon acetal copolymer in a broad range of markets, including the traditional uses in the automobile, industrial, appliance, and medical sectors, as well as demand for newer grades that provide lower gloss, greater electrostatic dissipation, and less wear.
