Following the success of Chilterns branch recent relaunch with a "Marketing is everything" event, the committee has chosen a breakfast event to continue the theme of promoting and marketing procurement.
In "Learn over the breakfast table to win friends and influence people", Judy Oliver, personal
Oliver will use a light-hearted approach to a serious subject about personality analysis and its importance in helping us to recognise and react appropriately to different personality types. She will also explain the hidden dangers of failing to recognise and understand character traits.
"Why is that when we meet new people we can either feel comfortable straight away, or we find them really hard work?" asks Oliver. She explains that one of the major challenges for managers today is to spend time on doing the job they are paid for rather than sorting out people issues.
"If we analysed the cost of assumptions, mistakes, misunderstandings, perception, and time wasted sorting these things out, plus the stress caused by extra pressure, it could have significant impact on the effectiveness and profitability of your organisation." Oliver believes all these problems are a result of poor communication between individuals and within teams.
"Learn over the breakfast table to win friends and influence people" will be held on 17 October, opening at 7.45am for breakfast and a presentation at 8am. The venue is the catering department at Milton Keynes College, Bletchley Campus, opposite Bletchley rail station.
