Nov. 4--HESPERIA, Calif.--Hesperia Unified School District has nearly 900 sleeping bags as well as food and water stowed away to take care of children during an emergency.
The district got to try out part of its emergency plan last week. Its high schools housed hundreds of mountain residents fleeing wild fires, rather than students, but the strategic plan worked just as well, said Superintendent Dick Bray.
"It largely validated all the planning we have been d
