IN DECEMBER 2004 THE SEECHAIN INVENTORY software application from SeeCommerce Inc. was named one of INDUSTRYWEEK'S Technologies of the Year, a component of IWs annual Technology and Innovation Awards Program. A little more than one year

later, the software application has a new home.

Technology firm Teradata announced in February that it had acquired SeeChain from SeeCommerce. Financial terms of the deal were not released.

According to Teradata Chief Marketing Officer Bob Fair, the acquisition complements several Teradata applications' capabilities by providing visibility to item- and location-level detail, as well as the ability to monitor, measure, manage and analyze supply-chain operations and take corrective action on exceptions.

SeeChain joins a company that has been in an acquisition mode recently. In late November 2005, Dayton, Ohio-based Teradata announced the purchase of DecisionPoint Software, a global software company focused on providing an integrated data foundation for financial and performance management.

According to Fair, Teradata will provide ongoing support to existing SeeChain customers and expects to hire SeeCommerce personnel to "ensure a seamless transition."

Teradata is a division of technology company NCR Corp.-Jill Jusko
