Courtesy Overdraft Checking is a software package that makes it easier for banks to increase non-interest income by permitting good retail and small-business customers to overdraw their accounts up to a predetermined threshold.

More than computer software, the provider says,

the program can be customized to support a bank's strategic objectives and customized (with staff training) onsite. It also comes with a marketing program to guarantee results and ongoing strategic, technical and marketing support.

Additionally, the firm says, the service is a turnkey consulting arrangement that also "addresses critical regulatory compliance issues."

"Customers appreciate the increased level of service from the bank because their checks are not being returned to merchants, which causes them embarrassment and costs them additional money," says David Furnace, managing consultant for the provider, Alex Sheshunoff Management Services LLP of Austin, Texas.
