Telecommunictions Association allies with European counterpart. (Alliances).

The Telecommunications Industry Association, Arlington, Virginia, has signed a cooperation arrangement with the European Competitive Telecommunications Association, Wokingham, England, providing a framework for TIA and ECTA to foster the growth of telecommunications development globally by leveraging

each association's significant market presence. The arrangement provides a framework for TIA and ECTA to work together through existing and mutually planned programs and events, such as conferences, e-commerce cooperation, trade seminars, and other initiatives.

"This agreement provides an excellent platform for ECTA members to better understand the market dynamics and technology developments in the U.S. market," said Phil Evins, ECTA's managing director. "We look forward to a very productive relationship that will increase sales and marketing opportunities for members of the two associations." Covering all activities supporting the telecommunications sector, ECTA has more than 250 members, including communication service providers, suppliers, and others offering products and services in the European telecommunications market.

"TIA and ECTA share the common goals of promoting business development and telecommunications market opportunities globally," said HA president Matthew J. Flanigan. "We are pleased that the cooperation agreement will enable TIA to expand market opportunities for our members."
